In the tower in clockwork forest (to reach, see clockwork-forest), there are five crystal fragments on the ground, shown as sparkles, scattered around the tower. Simply pick one up to begin the quest. Similar to other quests like slimy-oils and journey-of-a-hero, it ends right when you collect the last fragment, rewarding you with 18 EXP and the log recording crystal in the valuables section, worth 5000 gold.
