How to get this quest
Automatic when entering Winterfall.
To complete the quest, you must complete three separate objectives.
Rescuing the sacrifices
13 characters are held captive in various of Winterfall's buildings. The quest can't be completed as long as not all of them aren't either rescued or sacrificed. The two sailors in the south eastern building must be rescued first to make all of the other captives saveable. All enemies between the docks and a captive must be defeated for said captive to be rescuable.
The five female captives are under a curse. The only way to save is to uncurse them first, either by absorbing their curse or by getting to the point where Leviathan is slain.
Defeating the regular demons
Three regular demons must be killed in Winterfall.
- Astaroth (building in the southeast): this enemy can heal, cover the field in smoke and cripple your defenses. The smoke can be dissipated by wind spells. The main issue is to win quickly enough to not suffer from the debuffs.
- Eligos (building in the southwest): This enemy is resistant to Physical. Furthermore, Eligos has 180 DEF and 150 MDEF, but has the Rigid trait. Brittle II is thus a good way to deal with his defenses. The last issue is the mass of fragments regularly summoned by Eligos. He will also regularly use Mass Cycle of Life to heal himself by sacrificing his flunkies.
- Balor (building in the northwest): You start the fight with a debuff to your offenses given by two fragments. The main challenge resides in Balor's copying abilities though. He can copy your elemental resistances (meaning he will be resistant to Light), your attributes wich are greater than his and your last offensive skill. This features can be exploited if you've got Radiance and a setup making your Light II spell strong enough (like orb of light or The Art of Light) to compensate Balor's resistance.
It is actually possible to get them killed without defeating them (see the next section).
Defeating Beelzebub and Leviathan
The fight possesses multiple features.
- When you begin the fight, if at least one of the regular demons remains, Beelzebub will summon and eat one of them. This will double all his attributes during the fight. Astaroth takes priority in Beelzebub's choice, then Eligos, then Balor in last position.
- If you fight the generals before day 100, they suffer a 75% penalty on their attributes outside of LUK.
- If you didn't uncurse all the female captives and didn't activate Radiance, Leviathan will summon a cursed captive on turn 3 and try to sacrifice her. You get a choice prompt when this happens: either let the sacrifice happen (+2 Corruption and Leviathan morphs into his Hi-General form) or remove Aura's collar (or spend 100 MP if Aura is already in Star Knightness mode) and paralyze her for 2 turns.
- When either Beelzebub or Leviathan's HP reach 0, Beelzebub devours Leviathan (giving him another buff doubling all his attributes) and morphs into his Hi-General form.
- Transformed Beelzebub uses Concupiscere every 5 turns. This skill is highly dangerous, but it can't be used if Beelzebub is inflicted with Numb.
- Transformed Beelzebub know the Cursed Meat Gula spell. This spell's power depends on the number of cursed meats in your inventory. Having less than 4 also means the spell won't come at all.
- Losing just ends the day. If you try the fight again, you'll face Beelzebub and Leviathan in their weaker form if Leviathan is still alive. Else, you will face Beelzebub in his Hi-General form (but he doesn't get the buff from eating Leviathan).
To win without removing Aura's collar, it is thus best to fight before day 100 (or 99 if you intend to win in two tries), rescue all the female captives and defeat the three regular demons. Radiance will also make you resistant to the Dark element and activate Leviathan's vulnerability. Finally, losing the first time against Beelzebub's Hi-General form will make him easier the next day.
